Everything you need to know before launching your campaign

How it works, targeting, opt-in audiences, compliance, SMS, email, statistics and pricing: find answers to the most frequently asked questions about DMS Europe.

Overview

General questions

What is DMS Europe?

DMS Europe is a B2C marketing campaign platform that enables advertisers to deliver SMS and email campaigns to opt-in audiences in Europe.

You choose your target audience, channel, volume and message, then launch your campaign through the platform.

Who is DMS Europe for?

We serve companies that want to acquire new customers or generate qualified traffic through targeted email and SMS campaigns.

The solution can suit direct advertisers, marketing agencies, point-of-sale networks, and players in real estate, automotive, home improvement, services, finance, energy, retail or training.

Is DMS Europe a standard emailing tool?

No. We are not just a tool for sending emails or SMS messages to your own contacts.

Our difference is that the audience is built into the platform. You do not simply route a campaign: you access our B2C opt-in audiences and deliver your campaigns according to the targeting criteria you choose.

How is it different from platforms such as Brevo, Mailchimp or Sendgrid?

Platforms such as Brevo, Mailchimp or Sendgrid are mainly used to send campaigns to your own contact databases.

With DMS Europe, you can deliver campaigns to our B2C opt-in audiences. You therefore do not need to own your own contact file to launch an acquisition campaign.

Can I use DMS Europe if I do not have a contact database?

Yes. That is precisely one of the advantages of our solution.

You can launch an acquisition campaign without owning your own email or SMS file, since the audience is directly available on the platform.

Are the campaigns B2B or B2C?

Our audiences are exclusively B2C.

The solution is designed for campaigns aimed at private individuals, consumers, households, homeowners, tenants, car owners, project holders or affinity-based profiles.

Products

Offers and channels

What offers are available?

We offer four main products:

  • SMS;
  • email;
  • email + SMS retargeting;
  • email + SMS.

Each offer serves a different use case depending on your goal, budget, message and desired level of repetition.

Can I launch an SMS-only campaign?

Yes. The SMS offer allows you to deliver a short, direct message to a targeted audience.

It is particularly suited to local offers, time-limited commercial operations, appointments, events, store openings or messages that require quick reading.

Can I launch an email-only campaign?

Yes. The email offer allows you to present your offer in more detail.

Email is suitable when you want to include a visual, explain a service, highlight several arguments and direct contacts to a landing page.

Why choose email + SMS?

The email + SMS offer allows you to reach the same audience through two complementary channels.

Email provides detail, visuals and context. SMS reinforces visibility, memorisation and the call to action.

Why choose email + SMS retargeting?

The email + SMS retargeting offer allows you to use SMS more selectively after an initial email exposure.

It is particularly useful when you want to combine the depth of email with the impact of SMS, while focusing SMS on part of the audience.

Which offer should I choose for a first campaign?

It depends on your objective.

For a simple and immediate offer, SMS can be effective. To present a more detailed offer, email is often more suitable. To maximise visibility, email + SMS is generally more powerful. For a more progressive approach, email + SMS retargeting may be relevant.

Audience

Targeting and audiences

Can I target a specific geographic area?

Yes. You can target a geographic area depending on audience availability.

It is possible to build a national, regional, local or catchment-area campaign.

Can I target around a postal code?

Yes. You can target a catchment area around a postal code.

This is particularly useful for point-of-sale networks, local agencies, dealerships, stores, showrooms or proximity services.

Can I target around a point of sale?

Yes. You can target an audience around a store, agency, showroom, shopping centre or service point.

This type of targeting is suited to local campaigns aimed at generating traffic, appointment requests or qualified contacts.

Can I target several countries in the same campaign?

Yes, but it is often better to create one campaign per country.

This allows you to adapt the language, message, offer, statistics and local constraints.

What volumes are available?

Available volumes depend on the country, channel and targeting criteria.

As an indication, available volumes can reach:

  • France: up to 2.8 million email and SMS contacts;
  • United Kingdom: up to 1.6 million email and SMS contacts;
  • Spain: up to 1.2 million email and SMS contacts;
  • Italy: up to 1.4 million email and SMS contacts.

These volumes must be refined according to the selected targeting criteria.

Does a more precise targeting reduce the available volume?

Yes. The more criteria you add, the smaller the available audience becomes.

Broad targeting maximises volume. More precise targeting favours relevance.

What is the right level of targeting?

The right level of targeting depends on your objective.

A campaign that is too broad may lack precision. A campaign that is too restrictive may limit delivery potential. The ideal approach is to find a balance between volume, cost and commercial relevance.

Are the audiences proprietary?

Yes. We highlight proprietary opt-in audiences, with direct control over quality and marketing pressure.

We do not present DMS Europe as simple access to anonymous or uncontrolled partner databases.

How do you ensure audience quality?

Quality relies on several factors: control of sources, opt-in management, volume control, unsubscribe tracking, SMS STOP management, limitation of marketing pressure and audience selection according to defined criteria.

Our goal is to avoid poorly targeted campaigns, artificial volumes or overused databases.

Compliance

Data and compliance

Why do you not deliver contact files?

We do not deliver files in order to protect personal data, limit the risk of uncontrolled reuse and ensure centralised unsubscribe management.

You choose a target and a volume, but the data remains within our delivery environment.

Can I retrieve the targeted email addresses or phone numbers?

No. Email addresses and phone numbers are not transmitted.

The campaign is delivered through the platform, without any file export.

Can I reuse targeted contacts for another campaign?

You can launch a new campaign through the platform, but you cannot reuse the contacts directly outside DMS Europe, since the data is not exported.

Is DMS Europe GDPR compliant?

We design our solution with GDPR compliance in mind, with attention to consent, transparency, rights management and data protection.

Not transmitting files to clients also helps reduce risks linked to the circulation of personal data.

Who is responsible for data processing?

The exact role of each party depends on the campaign, the data used, the purpose pursued and the contractual terms.

In all cases, we frame the use of audiences so that responsibilities, purposes and obligations are clearly defined.

Are proof of consent records available?

Yes. Proof of consent can be provided on request when necessary, especially in the event of a complaint or a specific compliance-related request.

They are not provided systematically for every campaign, but can be mobilised when the situation requires it.

How are email unsubscribes managed?

Emails include an unsubscribe mechanism allowing the recipient to stop receiving communications.

Unsubscribes are taken into account in audience management.

How does SMS STOP work?

SMS campaigns include the necessary mechanisms to allow recipients to object to receiving further messages.

STOP requests are processed so that the contacts concerned are no longer contacted within the applicable framework.

Do you use sensitive data?

We do not aim to use sensitive data within the meaning of the GDPR for our marketing campaigns.

The criteria offered are marketing, geographic, socio-demographic or affinity criteria, within the applicable framework.

Can minors be targeted?

No, we do not recommend campaigns specifically targeting minors.

Our campaigns are designed for adult audiences, within a responsible marketing framework.

Can you refuse certain content or sectors?

Yes. We may refuse certain content, sectors or uses if we consider them incompatible with our compliance, quality or responsibility standards.

This may include illegal, misleading, aggressive, sensitive offers or offers presenting a significant risk for recipients.

Direct channel

SMS

Why use SMS for a marketing campaign?

SMS is a direct, short and highly visible channel.

It is particularly useful for simple offers, local campaigns, time-limited promotions, appointments or messages that require quick reading.

How many characters can an SMS contain?

A marketing SMS should remain short and readable.

The exact length depends on the content, the characters used and technical encoding constraints. For better performance, we recommend a simple, concrete and action-oriented message.

Can a link be included in an SMS?

Yes. SMS campaigns can include a link to a landing page, form, website, appointment booking page or specific offer.

The link must be consistent with the message and expected action.

Can the SMS sender be customised?

Depending on the country and local constraints, it may be possible to use a customised sender name, also called an alias.

Rules vary by market. Some destinations may impose specific constraints on the registration, use or validation of SMS senders.

Can SMS messages be sent in several countries?

Yes. You can launch SMS campaigns across several European markets.

Routing conditions, local rules, costs and sender constraints may vary depending on the country.

Are SMS messages sent from the client’s number?

Not necessarily.

The sending method depends on the country, technical constraints, selected format and applicable rules.

Can replies to SMS messages be received?

Acquisition campaigns are generally designed to generate a click, visit, quote request, appointment booking or conversion on a landing page.

SMS reply management depends on the selected setup.

What type of message works best in SMS?

The best SMS messages are short, concrete and action-oriented.

They present a clear offer, a reason to act, an identifiable link and a simple call to action. Messages that are too long, generic or unclear are generally less effective.

Detailed channel

Email

Why use email for an acquisition campaign?

Email allows you to present an offer in more detail than SMS.

It can include a title, visual, explanatory text, several arguments, a call-to-action button and reassurance elements.

Can I use my own HTML email?

Yes. You can integrate your own HTML creative into the platform when the format is compatible.

A simple, readable and mobile-friendly creative is generally preferable for an acquisition campaign.

Can the email subject line be customised?

Yes. The email subject line can be defined according to your offer and objective.

We recommend a clear, credible subject line that is consistent with the actual campaign content. Misleading or overly aggressive subject lines should be avoided.

Can my brand name be used as the sender?

Yes, depending on the selected campaign configuration.

The sender must be clear to the recipient and consistent with the offer presented.

Do emails need to be mobile responsive?

Yes, strongly.

A large share of recipients read emails on smartphones. We therefore recommend short, readable, structured emails focused on one main action.

Can several buttons be included in the email?

It is possible, but not always recommended.

For an acquisition campaign, a simple message with one main objective is often more effective. Too many buttons or options can dilute the expected action.

Results

Performance and reporting

Do you guarantee an open rate or click-through rate?

No. Open, click-through and conversion rates cannot be guaranteed.

They depend on many factors: sector, offer, message, targeting, seasonality, brand reputation, landing page and competition.

How can campaign performance be improved?

To improve performance, we recommend working on:

  • a clear offer;
  • relevant targeting;
  • a short message;
  • a visible call to action;
  • a fast landing page;
  • a consistent promise;
  • a simple form;
  • good continuity between the message and destination page.
Is it better to run a broad or targeted campaign?

It depends on your objective.

A broad campaign maximises reach. A targeted campaign concentrates the budget on the most relevant profiles. For a first campaign, testing several segments can help identify the most responsive audiences.

Can several messages be tested?

Yes, depending on the volume and setup.

Testing several hooks, email subject lines, SMS messages or calls to action can help you better understand what works with your audience.

Can conversions be tracked?

Conversion tracking depends on your landing page and internal tools.

We can provide the available delivery-side statistics, but final conversions on your website, form, CRM or phone line must be tracked in your own environment.

Why may my statistics differ from my analytics tools?

Differences may exist between delivery statistics, measured clicks, website visits and conversions recorded in your analytics tools.

These differences can come from blockers, cookie consent, redirects, loading delays, analytics filters or measurement methods specific to each tool.

Budget

Pricing and volumes

Why do prices vary depending on volume?

Prices decrease according to volume.

Small volumes require configuration and follow-up that represent a larger share of the total cost. Higher volumes reduce the unit cost.

Is there a minimum campaign volume?

Yes, a minimum volume may apply depending on the channel, country and campaign type.

This minimum ensures statistically meaningful delivery and consistent operational management.

Can I launch a small test campaign?

Yes, subject to the applicable minimum volume.

A test campaign can be useful to validate a message, target, offer or geographic area before gradually increasing volumes.

Do prices include access to the audience?

Yes. Prices include access to the targeted audience and campaign delivery under the agreed conditions.

You are therefore not only paying a technical sending cost, but a system combining audience, targeting and delivery.

Do prices include visual creation?

No, unless otherwise stated.

Graphic design, advanced copywriting, landing page production or specific services may be subject to an additional quote.

Do I have to pay before the campaign?

Payment terms are defined before delivery.

Depending on the type of client, volume and commercial relationship, terms may vary.

Eligibility

Content and sectors

Which sectors can use DMS Europe?

We can support many B2C sectors, including:

  • home improvement;
  • real estate;
  • automotive;
  • energy;
  • insurance;
  • finance;
  • training;
  • retail;
  • home services;
  • leisure;
  • subscriptions;
  • telecoms;
  • events;
  • point-of-sale networks.
Are some sectors refused?

Yes. Some sectors or content may be refused.

This may include illegal, aggressive, misleading, abusive, non-transparent offers or offers presenting a significant risk for recipients.

Can I send a promotional campaign?

Yes. Promotional campaigns are possible if the offer is clear, real, understandable and compliant.

We recommend avoiding excessive promises, artificial urgency or wording that could be perceived as misleading.

Can I send a campaign to a quote request form?

Yes. This is a common use case.

You can direct contacts to a quote request form, information request page, appointment booking page or callback request.

Can I promote a financial or insurance offer?

Yes, provided the offer is presented clearly and compliantly.

Regulated sectors require particular attention to disclosures, transparency, offer conditions and the destination page.

Europe

International and languages

Can a campaign be launched in several languages?

Yes. Campaigns can be adapted to several languages depending on the targeted countries.

It is generally recommended to create a specific version for each language to improve understanding, trust and performance.

Should the message be adapted to each country?

Yes, this is strongly recommended.

A literally translated message rarely works as well as a message adapted to the local market. Habits, wording, expectations and constraints can vary from one country to another.

Are SMS rules the same in all countries?

No. Technical and regulatory rules may vary by country.

Some markets impose specific constraints on senders, timings, notices, opt-out mechanisms or routing methods.

Protection

Security and confidentiality

Is the data protected?

Yes. Data used for campaigns remains in a controlled environment.

Not transmitting files to clients helps limit the risk of leaks, duplication or unauthorised reuse.

Do clients have access to the full database?

No. Clients cannot view, export or reuse the full database.

They only define the targeting criteria and desired volume for their campaign.

What happens if a contact complains?

In the event of a complaint, we can analyse the situation, check the necessary elements and provide the relevant information within the applicable framework, particularly regarding consent when justified.

Is the data used several times?

Audiences may be used for different campaigns, in compliance with applicable rules, consents, marketing pressure and unsubscribes.

Contacts who unsubscribe or object must no longer be contacted within the relevant framework.

Collaboration

Agencies and partners

Do you work with agencies?

Yes. We can work with marketing agencies, media agencies, lead generation agencies, consultants or business introducers.

Agencies can use DMS Europe to offer their clients acquisition campaigns with an integrated audience.

Can an agency manage its clients’ campaigns via DMS Europe?

Yes. An agency can manage its clients’ strategy, brief, creatives, offers and landing pages, then use our platform to access the audience and deliver campaigns.

Can campaigns be run white label?

Specific arrangements can be considered depending on the case.

However, we retain control over our audiences, delivery and the rules applicable to use of the platform.

Can an agency receive campaign statistics?

Yes. Available statistics can be sent to the agency on behalf of its client, according to the defined conditions.

Before launch

Client-side preparation

What do I need to launch a campaign?

To launch a campaign, you generally need:

  • your target country;
  • your targeting criteria;
  • the desired volume;
  • the selected offer;
  • your message;
  • your destination link;
  • your brand or advertiser name;
  • any date constraints;
  • the information needed to understand your offer properly.
Do I need to provide a landing page?

In most cases, yes.

The campaign must link to a landing page, form, product page, appointment booking page or website.

Can I use my own landing page?

Yes. You can use your own landing page.

We recommend a simple, fast, mobile-friendly page focused on one main action.

Does DMS Europe generate leads directly?

We deliver the campaign to a targeted audience, but leads are generally collected on your own landing page.

Forms, inbound calls, quote requests, orders or appointments are therefore managed in your own environment.

Can I choose the sending date?

Yes. You can choose a date or delivery period according to the availability offered on the platform.

Can a campaign be sent at the weekend?

This is possible depending on the countries, channels and objectives.

The best timing depends on the sector, message, country and expected recipient behaviour.

Can I modify my campaign after launch?

Once the campaign has been launched, modification options may be limited.

It is therefore important to check your content, links, targeting and settings before confirming delivery.

What happens if my link does not work?

A non-working link can seriously damage campaign performance.

We recommend systematically testing your destination link before launching delivery.

Examples

Use cases

Yes. This is one possible use case.

You can direct contacts to a quote request form, information request page, appointment booking page or callback request.

Can DMS Europe be used to generate store traffic?

Yes. Geolocated campaigns or campaigns around a catchment area are suitable for generating local traffic.

They can be used to promote an opening, special operation, invitation, discount or in-store event.

Can DMS Europe be used for a real estate campaign?

Yes. Real estate is one of the sectors compatible with this type of setup.

It is possible to target profiles according to geographic, affinity or housing-related criteria, depending on availability.

Can DMS Europe be used for an automotive campaign?

Yes. Automotive campaigns can be adapted to objectives such as appointment booking, test drives, offer promotion, trade-in, financing or servicing.

Targeting around a postal code or catchment area allows delivery to be focused on geographically relevant people.

Comparison

Differences from other solutions

Why choose DMS Europe rather than buying a file?

Buying a file means managing compliance, deliverability, unsubscribes, security, marketing pressure and routing yourself.

With DMS Europe, you do not receive the file: you choose a target, then your campaign is delivered through our platform. It is simpler, safer and more controlled.

Why choose DMS Europe rather than a simple media sales house?

A media sales house generally allows you to buy advertising space.

DMS Europe enables direct email and SMS campaigns to B2C opt-in audiences, with precise targeting and campaign statistics.

Why choose an opt-in audience rather than a standard advertising audience?

An opt-in audience enables direct channels such as email and SMS to be activated.

Unlike an ad displayed in a feed or on a website, the message is sent directly to the targeted contact, in a more personal and actionable format.

Is DMS Europe suitable for awareness campaigns?

Yes, but our solution is especially suited to action-oriented campaigns.

It can contribute to awareness, but its main value lies in its ability to generate traffic, clicks, requests, calls or conversions.

Is DMS Europe suitable for lead generation?

Yes. DMS Europe can be used as an acquisition lever to generate leads, provided your landing page, offer and form are well built.

The quality of the conversion funnel remains decisive.
